How Many Blackberries in a Pound?

To answer How many blackberries are in a cup we went to the store to check out the fruit section. After surveying the options we selected 1 pound of blackberries for our how many blackberries in a cup testing samples. On average, these berries were about 1.2 inches (3 cm) long.

We found that our pound of blackberries equaled about 3.12 cups and was comprised of 50 to 52 berries. A measurement of 1 cup contains 15 to 16 blackberries depending on their size and weighed in at 5.12 ounces. Blackberries are commonly found in 1 pint plastic clamshell containers; these hold about 30 to 32 berries.

Due to all the healthy benefits of blackberries, during World War I English children were dismissed from school to pick the berries. It was made into juice that was sent to their soldiers to help maintain their fitness for fighting.
